During the January 25th
Adjudicatory Hearing a consensus was reached to proceed with
Mediation. The Adjudicatory Judge has ruled the mediation
meetings will not be public
and all information will remain confidential until after the
Mediation process has concluded. Therefore we will not be able
to share any of that information with you other than what is
reported in the press. Also, we have a new
link added to our website.

We found another Mega
Resort project that is being proposed on Moosehead Lake in Maine.
This project is proposed by the Plum Creek Lumber Company in
Seattle. The parallels to the Tupper project are scary.
Check the "Other Resorts" page to
see the links we found. |
| 7/26/07 |
We found another website
that details information of other small New York towns fighting over
development.

We have added a new
section to the website called "Other Resorts". In this section
we have started to list information about other resorts similar to
the one proposed for Tupper Lake. It is important to see what
has happened with these other resorts and the surrounding
communities.
Also, a resent article on MSN was brought to our attention about the
health concerns of using Treated Effluent for snow making. You
can find this article in the news section dated 3/13/07. |

process has been delayed for 2 to 4 months. The June 22,
2007 pre-hearing date has been moved to September 21, 2007 and an
update will be given by the applicant on August 1, 2007. We
will keep you updated as we find out more information. All

We are currently looking
through all the files sent by the APA on CDs. What we have
found is that many of the files are corrupt and the layout /
descriptions are cryptic. After our analysis is done, we will send
the information to the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) in support of
having the developer put these materials up on a website. We
don't think the CDs are adequate and it appears that the developer
just did a file dump to satisfy a request for the materials.
No effort appears to have been made to verify the files or arrange
them. Your comments to the ALJ will be helpful.
Also, we have more changes on the "Links" page.
On the links page, we added another section for other local
websites. If you know of any more please email us and we
will list them. |

"Resorting to Madness, Taking Back our Mountain Communities",
will be shown in Tupper Lake on Wednesday, May 9th
at 7 PM at the State Theater
This film is a short documentary by ColdStream Creative. (
http://www.coldstreamcreative.com/ )
This documentary addresses the impacts of the modern ski resort
industry on mountain communities and environments.
Immediately following the film, Filmmaker Hunter Sykes will be
present for a question and answer period, and the public is
encouraged to attend. |
| 4/29/07 |
We received information
from the Adjudicatory hear that there will be a
Project site visit for parties scheduled for May 18th
starting at 9 AM. Those who wish to attend should
bring a bag lunch and provide their own 4 wheel drive vehicle.
Parties must notify the APA's Skip Outcalt by telephone (518)
891-4050 or by mail at George V. Outcalt, Jr., Adirondack Park
Agency, PO Box 99, Ray Brook, New York 12977 of their intention to
participate in the site visit by May 7th. |

The latest
information we have is that the Orvis Shooting school has now been
moved off the project property. We do not know where it is
going but this again shows how the project continues to change
almost on a daily basis. The most recent changes in the past
few week are the elimination of the East Ridge subdivision (36
units), elimination of the waste treatment plant on Lake Simond and
the move of the shooting school.
While we are glad to see these improvements in the project plan
there are still many more issues to be resolved. Based on the
remaining open issues and the continued changes in the project plan
we urge the APA to rescind the complete status and bring the project
back for review.
We feel this project should NOT be deemed complete until all changes
have been finalized. |

Action Alert:
In order to obtain
“Party Status” in the Adjudicatory Hearings you must petition the
hearing by April 23rd. We have posted instruction on how to do this
along with template letters in the “TLLOW WEB Documents” Section.
Also, there will be an Open Public meeting on April 18th in Tupper
Lake. We urge anyone who can attend to make this last public
meeting. |
| 4/1/07 |
We now have
all
the APA
Documents posted to the website. This includes information from all
application submissions and any correspondence.
NOTE:
Some of
these files are VERY large and if you try to open them it will take
a long time.
To speed things up, Left Click on the file name and select “Safe
Target As”. After the file is saved to your computer then it will
open much faster.
Please use our
MESSAGE FORUM
section to
discuss
information from these documents or post questions. |
