Welcome to our Web site!

Why I first created the website:

As a Tupper lake land owner, I first developed this website to help share information about the project with my family.  The reason for this was that the information was not readily available to the general public.

To view the application, you had to either go the APA and spend hours reading or a great deal of money copying the pages to take them home.  I quickly realized that we had an issue here for both the full time and summer residents.  Each had issues were they could not afford the time or money to make reviewing the application possible.  That meant that although this information is available under the “Freedom of Information Act” it still was not being made accessible to local residents who work Monday—Friday as well as those summer residents who may be miles away and can not attend local meetings during the winter or visit the APA and local offices.

Don’t get this wrong.  I have already been called a “Summer Resident”, “Non Full-time Resident”, “Greenie”, “Elitist”, and a “NIMBY”  (Not In My Back Yard).  I have worked in, live in and continue to support Tupper Lake for over 35 years.  I have nothing but the best interests for this town and the surrounding community.

When the website was first developed  it was for sharing the original application with my family.  As that grew to more and more members I decided that it was important to make this information available to the general public.  Why shouldn’t both full time and summer residents have access to ALL the information about this project?  After all shouldn't everyone be well informed?

The objective of the website remains to make as much information available the general public (full time and summer residents) as possible.  In fact, Mr. Foxman signed onto our website an indicated the following “Thank you for your impartiality”.  That is the true spirit of the website—to make as much information as possible to the general public so that they can make their own decision about the project.

 Feb 2009 Update:
After listening to many groups complain that the Environmental groups and select landowners are trying to stop this project I felt it was high time to clear the air.  The groups that are currently in mediation / adjudication all want to see a project starting in Tupper Lake.  The individual landowners (full time and summer residents) want to see growth in Tupper Lake.  Trust me, I am tired of eating in the same 3 restaurants and having to drive out of town for supplies.  However we all want to see a sustainable project in Tupper that does not jeopardize the community.  Poorly designed sewage treatment, overburdening of the lake and water access facilities, damage to wetlands and inaccurate marketing studies are just some of the issues that need to be resolved before a project of this scale can be approved.  Failure to flush these issues out would allow any developer to come in and build what ever they wanted turning this wonderful land into a  Coney Island look alike.  Don't spoil the wonder that is so special about the Adirondacks and what ultimately draws visitors to our doorstep.  A development done correctly in Tupper Lake will draw more visitors and business than one that pollutes the water, damages the environment and raises our taxes to support empty unsold buildings.
Let's do this right the first time Tupper Lake because we only have one shot at this!
